Opertus Mundi in the spotlight at the Geospatial World Forum 2021

The Conference

 

For the past years, the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) has become a unique annual geospatial industry platform that brings together professionals and leaders representing the entire geospatial ecosystem. The thematic focus of this year´s event dealt with “Geospatial Infrastructure & Digital Twin: Empowering Circular Economy” with the aim of re-connecting the supply and demand of geospatial capabilities across economic sectors through solution-based thematic programmes, high-level round-table meetings, workshops, trainings, and networking gatherings.

 

 

Europe’s New Digital Marketplace for Geospatial Data

 

Among the conference’s panel discussions, the Topio Market platform was introduced by the project´s communication responsible Ms. Kathrin Lenvain as part of the “Collaborative Opportunities for Space Infrastructure & Geospatial Value Chain” session. Questions around one central hub, trade and use of geospatial data were addressed along with the introduction of the Topio Market as a marketplace for commercial & proprietary data with its value-added services and special functionalities.

 

The discussion pointed to the need for such a platform in Europe as it aims to be an additional distribution channel, help companies grow and access to other spatial sectors worldwide as well as aid them tap into new revenue streams. The panel also discussed how geospatial and space data benefit each other with the illustration of two successful start-ups: ConstellR and Planblue.
